Chandigarh, May 5 : The Haryana government has banned the sale and use of plastic articles such as plates, cups, tumblers, spoons, forks and straw, a minister said here Thursday.
"The adverse effects of plastic carrybags on the environment and local ecology were also considered as it was found that plastic carrybags are littered irresponsibly and have detrimental effect on the environment," Environment Minister Ajay Singh Yadav said.
"Plastic carry bags also cause blockage of gutters, sewerage system and drains, thereby resulting in serious environmental problems," he added.
