1,255 crore for Haryana water, sewerage works (The Hindu- 05 May 2011)

CHANDIGARH: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Wednesday approved an outlay of Rs.1,255 crore for upgradation of water supply and sewerage works in the State. Of this, Rs.567 crore would be spent for improvement of drinking water supply facilities in rural areas. He was presiding over the first meeting of the Water Supply and Sewerage Board for the year 2011-12.
Public Health Minister Kiran Choudhary, Chief Parliamentary Secretary Zile Ram Sharma, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Chhatar Singh, Additional Principal Secretary to Chief Minister K.K. Khandelwal, Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary Public Health Engineering P.K. Gupta and other senior officers were present.
Mr. Hooda directed the officers to speed up the works and ensure that funds are fully utilised. They must visit the villages to check the functioning of the Indira Gandhi Drinking Water Scheme and ensure that all houses had proper water connections.
