Senior BJP leader Vijay Kumar Malhotra has expressed grave concern over reports claiming the presence of superbug in drinking water samples of the city. He said the contaminated water supply had increased the risks of jaundice, diarrhoea and other water-borne diseases.
Water-borne diseases
In a statement on Friday, Prof. Malhotra said half the city does not get piped water and drinking water is supplied though tankers which are carriers of water-borne diseases. The raw water supplied to the city via the Munak canal is also frequently contaminated by industrial waste and the Delhi Government has not been able to do anything about it so far, he added.
The BJP leader said the Government should test the water scientifically to clear all doubts in the minds of the citizens.
