Water supply may improve today (Hindustan Times 18 June 2012)

Anuradha Singh's Sunday morning was spent in storing water in large containers. "We have been getting water only once a day," said Singh, who lives near Gangaram Hospital in Karol Bagh.
But PC Gupta, a resident of Green Park in south Delhi, was a satisfied man. "Given the hot weather and the demand-supply situation, the supply in this area was reasonable today," he said.

But for scores of residents across Delhi, the situation continued to be bad as Delhi Jal Board (DJB) rationed out water for equal distribution.
Som Prakash Mitra, a resident of Burari, said, "Water supply has been erratic. We get water only once in a day." Civil Lines resident Rajesh Malhotra, said, "We received water for only one-and-half hours and that too dirty."   
For almost a week now, Delhi has been facing acute water crisis as DJB had been claiming that Haryana was releasing less water, resulting in the Wazirabad plant producing 30 million gallons per day (MGD) less water. Haiderpur plant produced 15 MGD less water.
The Delhi government on Sunday claimed that after a Haryana official visited the Wazirabad and Haiderpur plants, "Haryana has taken some corrective steps, resulting in an improvement in the pond level at Wazirabad plant. But water levels at the Haiderpur plant has been stationary, i.e there is 15 MGD less production."
Anand Kumar, Haryana's chief engineer, Yamuna Water Services, said in a statement that the state continued to release double the legitimate share of Delhi's water - 610 cusecs - at Munak. "Also, the water release for Chandrawal/ Wazirabad this year was about 175 cusecs more than the water released last year at this time of the year," he said.
Haryana has also ordered 3-4 teams to be available at Haiderpur, Wazirabad and Chandrawal plants so that there is better coordination and corrective measures, if any, can be taken without any loss of time, the statement said.
