Senior BJP leader Vijay Goel on Saturday met Haryana Chief
Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and discussed the issue of water supply to
Delhi.
Following the meeting, Mr. Goel charged that it was due to the
fight between the two Congress Governments of Delhi and Haryana that residents
of the Capital were suffering from an acute water crisis.
He said his managing to meet Mr. Hooda, who Delhi Chief Minister
Sheila Dikshit claimed was not even taking her calls, showed that water crisis
in Delhi was borne more out of a personality conflict between the two Chief
Ministers.
Mr. Goel said the Haryana Chief Minister claimed that Delhi was
being given 1210 cusec of water, which was more than its share. “Mr. Hooda
charged that about 40 per cent of water is being wasted in Delhi due to
mismanagement, leakages and improper distribution and claimed that Delhi was
pinning its own faults on Haryana.”
He said that Mr. Hooda noted that Delhi would not get any water
through the Munak canal till the time it would close the illegal cuts in the
canal.
