The Chief Ministers of Delhi and Haryana both came up with
suggestions to tackle the current water crisis on Monday. While Delhi Chief
Minister Sheila Dikshit, who recently announced that she uses just half a
bucket to bathe, asked for a reduction in supply to her residence, the Haryana
Chief Minister urged people to cut down on consumption. “If you take a bath
twice a day, please reduce it to once everyday, so that those people who do not
get water, can get some,” he said addressing the media here on Monday.
Ms. Dikshit, who is the chairperson of the DJB, has sought
reduction in the supply to her residence “to ensure even distribution of water
in the Capital city so that the every family could get reasonable quantity of
drinking water everyday”.
A statement issued by her office said, Ms. Dikshit has instructed
the DJB chief executive officer and the New Delhi Municipal Council
chairperson, to reduce supply of water to Lutyens’ Bungalow Zone and
surrounding areas.
